Income Tax Calculator
Full computation across all heads, both regimes, side by side.
Enter income under each head and your deductions. We will apply the slabs, the rebate, surcharge with marginal relief and cess, and show every step.
Choosing a regime is arithmetic, not ideology
The new regime gives wider slabs and a larger standard deduction but disallows HRA exemption and most Chapter VI-A deductions. The old regime is narrower but lets you claim them. Run both. The crossover depends entirely on how much you genuinely claim, not on how much you could theoretically claim.
Marginal relief
Just above the rebate threshold, and just above each surcharge threshold, tax can otherwise jump by more than the extra income earned. Marginal relief caps the increase at the additional income. This calculator applies it at both points, which many do not.
Rounding
Taxable income is rounded to the nearest ₹10 under section 288A, and the final tax payable or refundable under section 288B. Small differences against other calculators usually come from this.
What is outside the scope
Set-off and carry-forward of losses, relief under section 89 for arrears, foreign tax credit, and the special rates for gains under sections 111A, 112 and 112A. Use the Capital Gains Calculator for the last of those.
